Lucia Cherep, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

I joined the Human Spatial Cognition Lab as a Postdoctoral Scholar in July 2021. Before joining the lab, I received my Ph.D. in Psychology and Neuroscience from Iowa State University where I worked with Dr. Jonathan Kelly.

My training at Iowa State University was based on the belief that basic science can lend itself to applications in cognitive psychology, and that we can use cognitive psychology to understand practical problems. I have broad interests in basic and applied human spatial cognition using virtual reality. My specific research interests concern strengthening neuroscientific research on human neural activity during navigation through corroboration with behavioral studies, and individual differences in spatial memory and navigation performance, both within and outside virtual reality, and how these differences can be targeted for interventions.
